My name is Tryggvi Gunnarsson and I’m an Icelandic legal wedding officiant.
I take great joy from being allowed to participate and contribute to what is often the most important day in people’s lives.
I specializes in unique personalized ceremonies, I have extensive experience in wedding people of all shapes, sizes, sexes and sexual orientation. Love is love!

My name is Tryggvi Gunnarsson and I would be honored to be your officiant. I specialize in outdoor weddings in exotic natural locations; inside glaziers, on top of mountains, underneath breathtaking waterfalls, on majestic sea cliffs, and even inside volcanos!
My emphasis is on unique personal ceremonies that are tailored to the wishes, needs and personalities of the couple. No two ceremonies are the same, because no two couples are alike.
I see officiating as an honor and a privilege, and It gives me such joy to be trusted with this deeply important moment in people’s lives.

A Humanist Wedding Ceremony
Humanist ceremony is an intimate and personal moment where love between two individuals is celebrated. The form is very free and open to the wishes and personal preferences of the couple.
Only a handful of organizations are allowed to legally wed couples in Iceland. Siðmennt - Humanists Iceland is one of those and I am proud to be a long standing member.

At the end of the day I always feel humanism can be boiled down to one really simple sentence: Just be nice to each other!
Humanist officiants are often called Celebrants. We not only wed people, we also conduct naming ceremonies, civil conformations, and funerals, to name a few.
How to get married in Iceland
First of all, feel free to send me any questions or thoughts you might have to start the dialogue. I would love to hear from you and answer your questions the best I can.
Now, if you are interested in acquiring my services the first thing to do is to see if I am free on your chosen date. If I am, great! If not, we can either find another date, or I can recommend some of my wonderful colleagues at Humanist Iceland.
I assist you in taking the first steps regarding the paperwork. Once that is sorted I send you a questionnaire to get to know you better and get a feel for what you are looking for in your ceremony.
Once I have received your answers it’s time to meet, either do a video call, or preferably meet in person as soon as you arrive to Iceland.

Tryggvi had an amazing means of running his business. From setting up a personal time to meet with us at a local cafe, he built a great rapport with us and gave us exactly what we were looking for. Travelling from Australia to have our marriage ceremony was full of excitement but as well as a lot of nerves for potential complications.
